Drug & Alcohol Policy

Olympia Ocean Carriers are fully committed to a safe, healthy and productive working environment for all employees, both ashore and aboard its managed vessels. It is the policy of the Company that on all vessels they manage, no seafarer, whatever rank, will navigate the vessel or operate any equipment, while impaired by drugs or alcohol, or where there is any risk of such impairment.

Our Drug and Alcohol Policy:

  1. Prohibits the use by crew members of all substances, which are defined as narcotic and are illegal.
  2. We have implemented unannounced random testing of all Crew, Officers and Ratings, for alcohol and drug testing.
  3. Controls the issue and use of all medical supplies and prescribed medicines on board our vessels.
  4. Will dismiss instantly anybody, using alcohol or banned substances on board the vessel, caught in possession of alcohol or banned substances, found to have been instrumental in bringing alcohol or banned substances on board the vessel, found to have a positive trace in any random testing sample (unless prior notice and authorization for use has been provided).
  5. Requires all seagoing staff and new recruits to sign a Declaration of Acceptance of the Company’s Drugs and Alcohol Policy.
